You need to check with US Customs. Generally speaking any car imported must meet US emissions and safety standards. I know when I was a dealer that there were cars in the dealer auction that had originally come from Canada and had been registered in the US.

Maybe the standards are the same in both countries. I know for sure the speedometer and odometer of the Canadian car will be in kilometers and I don’t know what customs will say about that.

I live in the US. I once shipped a car (2008 Dacia Logan) from France to Canada, then Canada to US. Not a single terrif.

Generally you have to have owned the car for 6 months in Canada before you can bring it in tax free. It would be easier if it was a US or Canadian made vehicle.

And I cannot believe you cannot find a deal on a Golf in the USA that is just as good.

Remember that the winters there do just horrid things to cars.

I bought a used car in Washington last week and saved some cash. Try visiting a few used car lots in Ohio. http://www.findusedcardealer.com/Ohio-Used-Car-Dealers.html
