Honda Fit or VW City Golf?

I am thinking about buying my first small car. I am having trouble deciding between the Honda Fit with Sport Trim and the VW City Golf with the comfort package and AC. They are priced very similarly in Canada. Any opinions would be appreciated.

i live in canada. i bought a 2008 volkswagen city golf. is their any engine modifications i can do to it?

Why are City Jetta & City Golf sold in Canada, but not US?

I think they would sell well here since a lot of people prefer the old model Jetta to the new version, which resembles more of a Japanese-make.
