Vacationing in Niagara Falls Canada.?

Ok several questions. My husband and I will be spending 2 weeks on the Canada side of Niagara Falls beginning the middle of May. We are hoping to keep costs down and were hoping for some local tips on where the good deals are (food, attractions, etc)

We will also be traveling with our 1 year old daughter, what are some good activities for her in the area?

And transportation, we’re not getting a rental car since we’re within walking distance to a lot of the attractions. I’ve seen the People Mover thing, but it shuts down rather early in the evening. Is there a good local bus or taxi service that’s not to pricey?
Thanks!!

My family and I walked everywhere, but since you have a 1-year-old, I guess that might not be an option. There was a huge arcade, and just many attractions.
And I don’t live there, so I can’t give local advice.
But, I can tell you that you absolutely need to go see the falls at night. They put these different color lights on them, and it looks amazing.

While there is a public transit system in Niagara Falls, due to it being a relatively small city, it too, closes rather early. I do believe 10 pm, are the last runs. Taxi’s will bleed you dry. People mover is your best bet.

For a one year old, I suggest the Butterfly Conservatory. Also, the Rainforest Cafe. You don’t have to eat there (super expensive) but you can go in to see all the exotic fish in the tanks. Of course theres Marineland, but I wouldn’t bother with that place. Kids always seem to like the Maid of the Mist, but many get scared on the Spanish Areo Cars, or in the Imax Theatre. There aren’t a whole lot of activities geared toward young children.

I also suggest the Flying Saucer Restaurant, on Lundy’s Lane. Shaped like an alien space ship, its a place with cheap food, that mostly locals frequent.

Zooz in Stevensville is much better than Marineland. Many exotics, a splash park, tours on a train. Great place for kids. Not within walking distance though.

Two weeks is a lot of time to spend in Niagara. I suggest you do Niagara in the first few days, (as thats all it will take) then grab a rental car and move on to Toronto. Much more for a young child there. Ontario Place, Canada’s Wonderland, closer to African Lion Safari.

    Enjoy your trip.

You’re going to Niagara Falls for 2 weeks and no car! Did you do any research? I live 45 min. from the falls and there is not going to be enough for you to do in 7 days even with a car! I would highly suggest changing your plans to 7 days and take your saved money and get a car. See the falls for a day, take a hike, then drive to Letchworth State Park in NY, Lewiston, NY, Buffalo, NY, etc. I personally can’t stand the toursity stuff at the falls, it is over priced plastic garbage and the food is terrible! Much better food at real restaurants outside of the tourist area. Trust me, after a few days walking the falls and doing the maid of the mist you will be bored silly with no car.

well, for your daughter there is actually a butterfly kingdom there. Since your visiting or going near the falls, there is actually a shuttle bus. It will take your family almost everywhere(just near the tourist attractions). The tickets for the shuttle bus are like really cheap (around $30-$40) for the whole day!
