Why do Canadian workers of international corporations have better benefit packages than their US counterparts?

More vacation time , more paid days off . I checked my companys handbook for our operations in Canada and noticed huge differences between them and us.
Compensation packages need to be competitive within their markets to attract and retain employees. Canada is more liberal than the US in terms of vacation time and paid holidays. Salaries also tend to be significantly less in Canada than the US for comparable situations. Personal income taxes are considerably higher in Canada.
So, think about all this before you ask for a transfer.
